Denver’s Local Gems
“There is really no telling how one might stumble upon a gem. It’s when you are not looking and least expecting that you find something precious and worth holding on to. And that is exactly how I happen to stumble upon some of Denver’s savory sensations.
Breakfast. My personal favorite. The most important meal of the day to kick start your appetite and metabolism. So why not spend it in a charming, back to the 1950’s, eat your heart out Le Peeps type place? Annie’s Cafe is serving the CU Health Sciences students and surrounding
Lunch. A meal that has unfortunately been pinned as the ‘I am too busy to leave my little cube to enjoy’ has a new standard, or should I say a new number: 1515. Originally cued to be an upscale, classic steakhouse, 1515 Restaurant has a surprisingly innovative lunch selection. Located in the Lodo district, you cannot miss its artistically savvy front entrance on
Dinner. A time and place where the family and friends can gather over eats and drinks and let the worries of the day slide away. And what more relaxing, inviting atmosphere to do it in than a classic southern eatery. For a retreat from the ordinary, and a glance into the Southerner’s pride in food, stop in to Gumbos Louisiana Cafe on 15th and Blake in Lodo. Not only will you be greeted with genuine southern hospitality, you will indulge in a brilliant stage of their most characteristic dishes. Try any one of the gumbos, etouffees, or the Cajun and Creole classic feasts, and you will recognize why any person you meet in Colorado who has moved from the South claims us “Yankees” don’t know good food. The bar also provides a great wine list and encompasses the same dark wood and large windowed interior as the dining room; making any guest feel at home.”
